Greetings from the North Pole! It has been snowing almost every day since Thanksgiving up here in the Superior National Forest. I CAN’T EVEN explain how comforting it has felt to be cushioned in Mother Nature’s snowy bosom. Waking up to the flurries out the bedroom window deeply connects with my inner child. We are in full rotation of comfy beanies and have shifted into long johns fashion #hygge.
IT’S SOUP SEASON aka The Cauldron Craze. Our current homemade soup count is: Roasted Tomato, Italian Wedding, Spicy Ramen, French Onion. The ice is starting to settle out on the lake. There are moments driving through our cozy, winter town of Ely, where I can smell the comforting wood burning smoke of the stoves in people’s homes. I love this hibernation & introspective time - the quiet simplicity that comes with the Winter Season. We all deserve the slow down & rest that aligns with the rhythm of Mother Nature.
Sending many Yuletide Blessings to you and yours!
My beloveds we are finally here, moving through the Wheel of the Year once more. Finding ourselves in the silent serenity of Yule as 2024 comes to a close. Yule has roots in Celtic, Druid & Nordic traditions, but this time of year is sacred & celebrated by many religions, cultures and peoples. Yuletide or Winter Solstice is our shortest day & longest night of the year, signaling the deep respect for the darkness while also conveying the symbolic rebirth of Winter’s Light, the promise of the Sun’s return.
Stillness, rest and deep reflection.
Celebration, nourishment and blessings.
While there are so many beautiful customs & traditions that celebrate Yule & the Winter Solstice - I feel like most of us are just trying to get to the finish line of 2024 and that is totally OK!!
I think the most beautiful way to celebrate this Yuletide is to honor YOU and whatever YOU NEED during these last 12 days of 2024. The the ancient days, the time between Yule & New Years was an elongated observance of joyous feasts, quality time with loved ones and rest. I think for a lot of us, it can be all of those things, as well as a liminal time of laissez faire & contemplation. It can be time for creative energy or bedrot/couchrot with as minimal obligations as possible! You choose your own yule adventure.
This Winter Solstice, I hope you follow your own light & joy while also spending time comforted in the darkness & silence. The more we are in tune with the seasons and rhythms of nature, the more we can honor our own cycles and call in the new year with open arms.

For me, the next 12 days will be focused on deep rest & creative enjoyment.
I’ve spent the past two months channeling & creating my Creative Visioning 2025 Workshop, which I am really really looking forward to hosting. It’s wild to me that this has actually been a personal practice of mine for the past decade. It is such potent magic. I’m thrilled that it’s now in tangible form for others to use & enjoy.
I really am in love with Winter this year. It’s not just the holiday festive spirit, but having the time & energy to go inward. Winter has been ranked as my 2nd favorite seasons (Fall being #1), for a few years now - but with the climate crisis plus barely getting any snow last year plus the craziness of this year… I’ve been patiently waiting for Winter’s song, for a very, very long time.
A few fun Winter moments & rituals we’re enjoying this season:
With the sun setting at 4:17pm, getting comfy in bed relaxing by 7 or 8 has been amazing! The night is young! All I have been doing is reading books and watching classic movies.
I attended a Fire Cider & Elderberry Syrup class at the Ely Folk School, which was so much fun.
Travelled to Minneapolis to kick it with friends & help make the next batch of Mountain Doc’s Cannabis Salve. It will be available in the new year for purchase!
Wild Animal Updates:
Sanford the local fox is looking handsome as ever. He’s been coming around for the past 3 years and it’s so beautiful to witness his maturity! From sweet lil fox babe to adolescent forest patroller.
Oscar the flying squirrel is back. 🐿️ Nocturnal by nature, he always makes a dramatic entrance flying in from the darkness and raiding out the bird feeder. Flying squirrels look crazy with their beady eyes & wide, flat curved tail. He loves to post one leg up against the tree and the other wrapped around the bird feeder, while he stares at u and we stare at him. Flying squirrels are actually endangered, so we’re happy to support the delicate ecosystem!
Speaking of delicate eco system - we had a moment of awe and was gobsmacked when a wolf took down a deer in our backyard on the lake. We woke up in the morning to a party outside. Watching the cycle of life play out with bald eagles and an unkindness of ravens gathered to enjoy their sustenance.
I’m looking forward to reflecting on my 2024 year, my year of Trusted Initiation. The highs & lows. The triumphs & lessons learned - like becoming an Executive Producer - a long time career goal - while simultaneously taking a step back from advertising - a new personal goal. On Dec 9th we hit our 1 year anniversary of living full time in the woods. A lot of new has come in and a lot as started to shift. I’m feeling more and more aligned with my soul purpose and I’m excited to meditate on 2025 and call in the desires & dreams that I want to focus on for the new year.
One of my favorite things to do for 2025 prep is my Annual Tarot Spread, which starts today on Yule! 12 days of pulling tarot cards to forecast the upcoming year. It’s a hefty tarot spread that is a blast to do. This personal ritual & exercise is something I plan to share in the future with Sacred Saturdaze Outpost.
I’m also excited to have Sacred Saturdaze Outpost continue to evolve & grow! Thank you to all who has supported Sacred Saturdaze this year! We’ve completed the High Holidaze of 2024 through a few podcast episodes & 10 substack museletters - thank you thank you for following along my Beloved’s! It was a fun way to connect with you all while we learned about & honored The Wheel of the Year. I’m looking forward to January & February hibernation months, so I can continue to vision the next chapter of this intuitive business. A lot is brewing in the cauldron of Sacred Saturdaze Outpost.
Also incredibly stoked for my partner Tim Mattimore to launch his photography website in the New Year! If you don’t follow him on instagram @tim_mattimore - you should! All thhe stunning photography you’ve seen in SSO’s substack over the year has come from my talented hubby. His landscape photography aka Ghost Landscapes is coming soon! So we can finally enjoy his beautiful captures in larger form and order prints!
Sending all the holiday blessings to you & yours! Happy Yuletide!
That’s a wrap on 2024 and here we come 2025!
